I have worked at southgate solicitors for three years now and I can say that it has been quite the ride!

I left my old firm excited about my new adventure but also sad to leave such good friends, and the place where I began my legal career, behind.

Since joining, we have grown and developed and new colleagues have come on board. I am happy to say that we all get along incredibly well and there is a real shared spirit amongst the team. We have all worked hard to get to the position we are in, no matter how early on we are in our careers. We therefore know how to let off steam and enjoy each other’s company when the work is done for the day (even if there is some tension during certain games from time to time…).

The ethos our managing director, Hasan, has developed is what attracted me to southgate solicitors. I personally find that if you are being invested in, and you are appreciated, extra hours don’t matter so much. I count myself very lucky to work in a place where I am listened to, even when what I say might be a load of nonsense and I might be asking the same question for the tenth time!

My line of work, care proceedings, has boomed over the past few years. There are times when I have been inundated with new cases. It is never a boring or ordinary day at work. There are always new issues, new people and new challenges to deal with. At times, there is too much to do but I have the support of Hasan and my colleagues to help keep the workload manageable.

We have been through a pandemic together and we seem to be as strong a team as ever. I now predominantly work from home, and I have the resources and support to be able to do that and maximise my own productivity. We might be dotted all over the place, from the office, court, or home, but we can all communicate with each other at any time using Slack, our messaging system. It’s simple tools like this that make a difficult day easier.

I am very pleased that I made the move to southgate solicitors. I can see a long, and fun, future ahead of me here and I would recommend southgate solicitors (and do!) to anyone who needs family law advice, or a new adventure in the wild and wonderful world of family law.
