Each year, thousands of legal professionals take to the streets of London to walk 10k in support of Access to Justice and to raise funds for free legal services in London and the South East. Over 2 million people are assisted annually through free legal advice services and with the massive cuts in legal aid these services are needed now more than ever.
Organised by the London Legal Support Trust, 2017 marks the twelfth anniversary of the charity event with sponsorship funds increasing year on year. This year fundraising broke a record-breaking £800,000.
Over 12,000 legal professionals were joined by Lord Chief Justice, President of the Supreme Court, Master of the Rolls and Christina Blacklaws, deputy vice president of the Law Society. Parliamentary candidates Dominic Grieve QC and Karen Buck, plus ‘Judge’ Rinder took part in the charity event.
This year walkers had the choice of two routes – the original 10k parks route, and a brand new 10k river route and the weather held up nicely reaching sunny highs of 23 degrees!
