Husband Jailed for Failing to Disclose Pension Details in Divorce Case

A husband involved in ongoing divorce proceedings has been jailed for 19 days for failing to disclose details about his pension, despite repeated court orders.

The husband, referred to as โ€œH,โ€ was held in contempt of court for refusing to provide the necessary financial documents, such as Form E and the Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) of his pension. These details are crucial for determining a fair financial settlement between the parties.

Judge Dodsworth noted that H had not attended previous hearings and failed to offer any medical evidence for his absences. The situation escalated on 1 March 2024, when the court found H in contempt and gave him an additional eight weeks to comply. Despite this extension, he ignored the courtโ€™s orders, leading to further legal action.

On 28 March 2024, H once again failed to attend a scheduled hearing, prompting the judge to issue a warrant for his arrest. The court also highlighted Hโ€™s derogatory email to his wife, sent just a day before the hearing, which worsened his position.

Judge Dodsworth considered several penalties, including fines and asset confiscation, but concluded that only an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate due to the severity of Hโ€™s defiance. As a result, H was sentenced to 21 days in prison, with two days deducted for time already served in custody, leaving him with 19 days of immediate imprisonment.

This case serves as a reminder that failing to comply with court orders can have serious consequences.
