Local Authority:

  • Amy achieved a positive outcome for a mother in care proceedings. She demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in a challenging case marked by domestic abuse and substance misuse. Through her effective management, the mother successfully completed a positive parenting assessment, resulting in the child being able to remain in her care, where there was a real risk of adoption. This outcome reflects Amy’s commitment and dedication to her clients and to ensuring families receive the support they need during challenging court proceedings.
  • Amy represented a father in a highly complex parental alienation case, where allegations had been raised against the father of sexually abusing the mother. The case was complicated by a real risk of the mother absconding with the child, given the mother’s history of absconding with another child and disappearing for 11 months during prior court proceedings. The father wanted to play an active role in his child’s life and sought increased contact with the child, but had been prevented from building a relationship with the child due to the allegations remaining a live issue. Despite these challenges, Amy skilfully navigated the situation, ensured that highly experienced counsel represented her client throughout the proceedings, and successfully managed to increase the father’s contact with the child from supervised once a month to every weekend unsupervised, as well as during holidays. Her ability to manage such a difficult case and achieve a positive outcome for the father evidences her commitment to work hard for her clients to achieve the outcome they seek.
  • Amy successfully represented a father in care proceedings where there was a significant risk of the child being placed in long-term foster care. The case was complicated by the mother’s drug and alcohol misuse, poor home conditions, and malicious allegations against the father. The father successfully completed a parenting assessment with his current partner, and through Amy’s diligent case management, successfully challenged the evidence brought against him by the mother, ultimately allowing the child to remain in his care without the need for a public law order. This outcome underscores Amy’s expertise in navigating complex situations and achieving favourable resolutions for families.
  • Amy represented a father in PLO proceedings, and was successfully able to avoid the matter escalating into care proceedings. The central issues were domestic violence in the parents’ relationship, unkept home conditions, and the father’s own health needs. Amy successfully guided her client through the PLO process, and achieved a good outcome, preventing the matter from escalating to court proceedings.

Domestic Abuse:

  • Amy successfully obtained a 10-year non-molestation order for a client who had endured years of abuse and stalking by her ex-partner. The case was highly complex and involved a substantial amount of unusual evidence. The Respondent had previously sought non-molestation orders that lasted only a year, but the stalking started again after the orders expired. Recognizing the ongoing threat, Amy sought a longer order to put an end to the cycle of violence and harassment. Amy effectively persuaded the court that the Respondent had experienced a significant history of abuse, including online stalking, hacking into the client’s social media accounts, and breaking into her flat, and the Applicant was awarded a 10 year non-molestation order.
